Spatial and temporal correlations in neural networks with structured connectivity

چکیده
Neurons in the brain organize spatially connected networks. This analytical work shows that interactions between neurons arranged networks generate correlated fluctuations on multiple spatial and temporal scales. The scales of correlations are interdependent jointly defined by connectivity profile.

Spatial-temporal current source correlations and cortical connectivity.
The purpose of this study was to explore spatial-temporal correlations between 3-dimensional current density estimates using Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography (LORETA). The electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded from 19 scalp locations from 97 subjects. LORETA current density was computed for 2,394 gray matter pixels. The gray matter pixels were grouped into 33 left hemisphere and 33 r...

Toughness of the Networks with Maximum Connectivity
The stability of a communication network composed of processing nodes and communication links is of prime importance to network designers. As the network begins losing links or nodes, eventually there is a loss in its effectiveness. Thus, communication networks must be constructed to be as stable as possible, not only with respect to the initial disruption, but also with respect to the possible...
متن کاملClustering and Mapping Spatial-Temporal Datasets Using SOM Neural Networks
Large datasets can be analyzed through different linear and nonlinear methods. Most frequently used linear method is Principal Component Analysis (PCA) known also as EOF (Empirical Orthogonal Function) analysis, permitting both clustering and visualizing high-dimensional data items. However, many problems are nonlinear in nature, so, for analyzing such a problems some nonlinear methods will be ...
متن کاملStructured Connectivity in Cerebellar Inhibitory Networks
Defining the rules governing synaptic connectivity is key to formulating theories of neural circuit function. Interneurons can be connected by both electrical and chemical synapses, but the organization and interaction of these two complementary microcircuits is unknown. By recording from multiple molecular layer interneurons in the cerebellar cortex, we reveal specific, nonrandom connectivity ...
